Introducing

Emperor Adichie

 - Musician, Performer, and Producer

EMPEROR ADICHIE & AFRO JUNGLE JAZZ BAND
Nigerian-born "Emperor" ADICHIE has been woven into the fabric of NYC's
artistic scene since he arrived in 1974. A contemporary
of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, who
brought Afrobeat into the international musical jargon, Adichie shared many
of the same musical influences. His self-styled Jungle Funk is a rich blend of
the traditional rhythms of his native Ibo and Kalabari (also known as the
"Rivers People" of southeastern Nigeria), combined with the West African highlife
and funk of E.T. Mensah and Rex Lawson, and accented with soul, rock and disco
- with even a touch of flavor from the Indian films that were popular as he
was coming of age in Nigeria. AFRO JUNGLE JAZZ is a collective of seasoned
NY-based musicians with an international outlook, originating from Nigeria, Ivory
Coast, Cameroon, Mali, the U.S. and more - a coming together of Anglophones,
Francophones and Africaphones to create irresistibly danceable funk in the
concrete jungle of New York City.

A musician, dancer, actor and fashion maverick,
Adichie has performed in NYC
venues such as Paradise Garage, The Tunnel, Danceteria, Tramps, Pulse, Club
Negril, BAM Café, The Lion’s Den and Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar, as well as
annual festivals in Marcus Garvey Park and Floyd Bennet Park, among others.
Adichie also studied acting at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in NYC,
and performed in several Off-Broadway plays throughout the '70s and '80s. As a
former member of Frank Silvera's Writers Workshop and New York Shakespeare
Festival Workshop, he also penned two musical plays.
Emperor Adichie has released numerous albums and singles, and, more recently,
CDs and DVDs. His songs have been performed by LaToya Jackson, grass-roots NY
rappers, and cultural groups. A committed cultural activist, Adichie has
composed two songs for SACAIDS (Save Africa Concert AIDS) Foundation, and in 2002
was the first African from the
Continent to release a song about Amadou
Diallo, which was aired on radio stations in the US and Nigeria. He also currently
performs with the NY African Concert Ensemble (NYACE).

Adichie also owns and operates ADDY PRODUCTION STUDIO that specializes in SOUND TRACKS for Jingles, Commercials, Films etc. Dee Jays and Musicians are also available on request.

Watch out for his new release coming out in January 2007. For more information
